The visit of leaders The Academy was always
likely to prove too hard a match to take 3 points form so
today's 1-1 draw is possibly a good result. Charscot took the lead on 25 minutes as Zebeto hit a brilliant 30 yarder. The lead was short-lived as The Academy took just 5 minutes to equalise. The draw keeps Charscot in 15th place and with a must win game at Colwyn Bay next week. Manager Rich Grove was brief afterwards. "We really needed a win but a draw is a good result and we simply have to win our next 2 matches against Colwyn and Wascisco". Pedro Cea completed his move to Dep El to fulfil the multi player deal between the clubs. |
23/12/2024 |
With Charscot looking likely to relegate
the team made the short trip for a local derby at Vanbrugh
Royals looking for a third consecutive away win. When the team went one behind just after half time it looked grim but substitute Rafael Gordillo turned the game on it's head. His sweet lob levelled the scoreline 11 minutes after coming home before setting up Alberto Spencer to tap home the winner four minutes later. The win still sees the team in 15th place and with the reigning and likely future league Champions The Academy visiting next week it is unlikely the position will improve next week. Manager Rich Grove was cautious afterwards. "That was a great road win but if we can't start winning at home it will be for nothing. It is imperative to shock everyone with a home win next week." Alessandro Altobelli arrived from Dep El Celtico with Pedro Cea due to join Dep El next week. |
16/12/2024 |
The team hosted Beeston Athletic knowing a
win was crucial as the games start to run out. The performance didn't reflect that as the team fell behind 3 times, the final time with a minute left of the game, as they lost 3-2 and took a big step towards relegation. Spencer's 55th minute close range tap in and a 81st minute Concha own goal did nothing ultimately. The loss dropped the team to 15th and looking all but relegated. Manager Rich Grove was deeply unimpressed. "Just so poor, we got our hopes up after last week only for the reality of our situation to be brought home today. Changes will continue to be made to the squad". Jack Williams joined Palace of the BS league via the auction market today for £ 35,200,008, the second highest fee the club has received in it's history. It looks like the manager has lost patience with some of the trainees with Pedro Cea returning to Dep El Celtico and in return Alessandro Altobelli will join the club next week. Altobelli already has a goal for Charscot, having scored an own goal in the cup against Rhyl on week 10. It is believed youth keeper Ronnie Simpson may get an early promotion in the next week or two. In the S.L.F.A Cup the team have been drawn against the only other top flight side left in the competition as they play Whitebrook Rangers. |
09/12/2024 |
The season has been generally poor and few
weeks have been ones to celebrate so this week needs to be
treasured before it all goes wrong again. In the league Charscot went to Longfield K.L.F and recorded an excellent 1-0 win courtesy of Rytkonen's header with 15 minutes left to play. The team then hosted Division One side Barton Blitz in the SLFA Cup quarter-finals and after a very good performance eventually came through in extra time 2-1. Rivellino's 25 yarder on 57 minutes looked like being enough until Puttick's sweet lob with six minutes left levelled the scoreline. Zebeto secured the semi-final spot with a tap in on 94 minutes. The league win sees the team move to 14th place with 7 games remaining. Manager Rich Grove was ecstatic post-match. "That was an excellent pair of performances against two quality sides and managers. We have to build on this and record at least another 3 wins in the league to have a chance to stay up and if we can get to the cup final too that will be the icing on the cake to make the best of a bad season up to now". |
02/12/2024 |
Charscot welcomed fellow strugglers Rhyl
F.C desperate for a win as the games start to run out and
the team still sit in 15th place. The performance was strictly average from both sides but Rhyl made the most of their chances to record a 3-0 win and leave the home team to be booed off the park at the end as the manager launched into a verbal assault of his players on the pitch, such was his disgust. Afterwards Rich Grove was clearly unhappy. "That was simply not good enough. We have 8 games left and need to win at least 4 to stay up and based on today it is hard to imagine us winning a single solitary game, never mind four". "We go to Longfield looking like a dead duck side that will just roll over and how we are still in the cup is beyond me. I certainly don't expect us to be in the cup after next week as Barton must be relishing playing us right now we are so bad". It was clear the manager has had enough and the coming weeks could see more changes at the club with the keeper seemingly exiting by the end of the season. |
25/11/2024 |
The trip to doomed Long Eaton Rangers was a
game the Wolverines simply had to win today and it started
badly as the hosts took the lead after just 16 minutes. Despite dominating, Charscot could not find a way through the Archers' defence and it looked like the team was dropping ever closer to relegation when Brad Blackwell saved the side. Brad was given a new role today and he thrived late on as he scored a six minute brace, his first goals for the club, to turn the match around. His bundled home tap in on 74 minutes was followed by a brilliant curling free kick from 30 yards six minutes later. The win kept the team in touch with the sides above as a number of shock results were played out today. Manager Rich Grove was trying to be hopeful afterwards. "This was an important road win but we simply have to follow it up with a home win over Rhyl next week. Rhyl visit us just two places above us in the league and a win would hopefully see us out of the bottom three. A loss would be a disaster and a draw would not help much at this late stage of the season". Two players left today to get game time as Franciso Buyo joined Ziaste and Josh Cook joined Whitehall Rangers. Listed Jack Williams on the auction market got a bid of £ 22 million with 3 weeks still to go but this figure is well short of the estimates and is expected to be beaten in time. |
18/11/2024 |
Another home loss today sees the team lose
more ground at the bottom of the table as relegation looks
increasingly likely. Manager Rich Grove made a major tactical change and it instantly backfired as the team were a goal down with 30 seconds of kick off and despite a Spencer equaliser in the second half the team still looked in disarray as they lost 3-1 to Seabourne City. The loss was not a surprise and the manager was left annoyed with himself afterwards. "I listened to outside parties and made tactical decisions that were clearly completely wrong and that is my fault. Relegation seems likely now and I am pretty fed up". Behind the scenes the club let Jack Williams go onto the auction market. Williams had failed to settle and it was decided as part of a much needed squad reduction process that he could leave after no suitable swap offers could be found. In the SLFA Cup the team was drawn at home to Division One Barton Blitz with the quarter-final tie to take place in 3 week's time. |
11/11/2024 |
A double game week saw the team in the
third round of the cup and facing an enormous league match
at fellow relegation threatened side Dropship FC. Clearly the priority was bound to be on the league match but that wasn't in evidence as the team won their cup tie but threw away a lead to lose in the league. In the league the players put in an awful performance, with record low player ratings as the team lead early through Zebeto's magnificent free kick but a dismal second half saw the hosts recover to win 2-1. The loss dropped the team to 15th place and in deep trouble. In the cup the team put in a brilliant display against high flying Beeston Athletic and should have won this game easily. As it was it took an extra time goal from Zebeto to secure progression. Manager Rich Grove was frustrated afterwards. "Why this squad cannot put in a consistent performance is beyond me. If we had played in the league the way we did in the cup we would have recorded a win but we simply cannot get any sort of forward momentum and relegation is looking likely right now". Some business off the field as Pedro Cea returned to the club with Nathan Moriah-Welsh moving in the other direction to Dep El Celtico. It seems likely Jack Williams will be placed on the auction market next Monday. |
04/11/2024 |
A third consecutive league draw today left
the team in 14th place ahead of a big double match week
next week. Today's goalless draw with Prestatyn Town was the first between the clubs at The Blue Silver Stadium. Manager Rich Grove had mixed feelings over the match. "A third consecutive draw is not doing anything to get us out of the bottom 3 but it was a relief to keep a clean sheet. We have had issues all season defensively so a clean sheet is promising, albeit we need more of them." "We now go into next week';s trip to Dropship, directly below us in the table, knowing we need to win. Add a home cup tie against Beeston in the third round of the cup and next week is an enormous week for us". |
28/10/2024 |
Going to St Joseph's BC has not been a
rewarding trip historically so today's 1-1 draw was a
point gained, even though the result leaves the team in
14th place. After going behind on 27 minutes the equaliser 11 minutes later from Aulis Rytkonen's 20 yard drive got the team a hopefully crucial point. Manager Rich Grove was relaxed afterwards. "We got a good point today but we need to start getting wins, starting with the visit of Prestatyn Town next week. Wins are crucial as we look to try and get away from another relegation battle". The cup draw saw the team drawn at home to local rivals Beeston Athletic in an all top flight clash. |
21/10/2024 |
A double week was a test for the new
tactics and they came out of the two matches still looking
promising but the team finds itself dropping two places
despite an excellent league draw. In the league visiting Spondon Phoenix are having another strong season and when substitute Rafael Gordillo scored on 68 minutes with a header it looked promising. However, the visitors equalised inside two minutes and the match finished all square. The lost points see the team drop to fifteenth place in a very close division. The team hosted local rivals Dep El Celtico in the cup and the first half display was different class as the team raced into a three goal lead. Rivellino scored a brace with a header and a close range drive with Duscher toe-poking home in-between his two goals. Dep El scored early in the second half but substitute Zebeto made it 4-1 with five minutes left. Manager Rich Grove was happy but cautious afterwards. "It is good to see the team still performing well but we need to win more frequently in the league as we are looking in trouble at the bottom right now". |
14/10/2024 |
The team needed to find a way to arrest
their slump as they travelled to Whitebrook Rangers to
reach the halfway point in the season. The manager brought Brad Blackwell in for an immediate debut despite a lack of form as he made major tactical changes. The change in tactics worked well despite the team going behind after a quarter of an hour. The team bounced back in the second half as Aatos Lehtonen scored from close range on 50 minutes. Zebeto came on in the 66th minute and became the first player to score before a minute has passed in multiple substitute appearances for the club as he broke through and scored from close range. The 2-1 win moved the team up two places to 13th. Manager Rich Grove was ecstatic afterwards. "The players responded well to the changes and I am hoping this can be a springboard to better results that will get us out of trouble in the coming weeks". |
07/10/2024 |
The visit of unbeaten leaders A.F.C
Binfield, chock full of ex-Charscot players, was always
likely to end in defeat and a Majewski goal was enough for
the visitors to win 1-0 and leave Charscot stuck in 15th
place. Manager Rich Grove had little to say afterwards. "Just more of the same, changes will be happening as we try to drag ourselves out of this mess". After the team continues to fall short on the pitch the manager decided to act and bring in last season's star striker Brad Blackwell from today's opponents A.F.C Binfield. The club gave up 16 year old stars Zaire-Emery and Stabile, a high price to pay, but if Blackwell can score the goals he scored last season for Binfield it will be a cheap price to pay. |
30/09/2024 |
Charscot put in an abysmal performance as
they lost to local rivals Wascisco Red Sox 2-1 to further
enhance their relegation chances. The team started slowly and were quickly two down and although Zebeto hit a superb 25 yarder on 31 minutes to halve the arrears The Wolverines showed little quality as they lost. The team are now 15th and looking increasingly likely to relegate and Rich Grove was not happy post-match. The manager was fuming afterwards. "I ma sick of these garbage performances. We are simply an embarrassment and I would happily sell most of the players right now. We now face the unbeaten league leaders next week and they will tear us apart". The team continued their poor form losing 3-1 at home to Ziaste Nequeno in the Super Cup and exited in the quarter-finals. |
23/09/2024 |
Charscot welcomed Colwyn Bay to The Blue
Silver Stadium desperately looking to return to winning
ways before the team gets too deeply routed in the bottom
three. A fine drive by Aatos Lehtonen on 26 minutes from the edge of the area was enough to win the game 1-0. The win moved the team up two places to 13th. Manager Rich Grove was relived afterwards. "We really needed to win that match and from here we have to put in an unbeaten run to drag ourselves away from the bottom three." In the Super Cup the team lost 3-1 at Ziaste Nequeno in the first leg of the quarter-final and it is hoped the away goal can prove helpful next week. |
16/09/2024 |
Charscot expected little from their visit
to The Academy and they weren't disappointed as that is
what they got, losing 2-1 and dropping to 15th. Jamie Lazcano's fine strike on 28 minutes to level the scores with his first goal of the club was the only highlight of a poor performance. Manager Rich Grove was miserable afterwards. "That was just dire, no fight, no effort and we may as well end the season today if that is the level of effort and quality the team is going to produce". "We have 2 points from our last 6 matches and we need to find a way to win in the next couple of weeks, starting with the visit of Colwyn Bay next week". In the Super Cup the team lost 3-2 at home to Colwyn Bay but went through by one goal and will face local rivals Ziaste Nequeno in the quarter-finals. |
09/09/2024 |
Charscot have slumped over the past month
and now find themselves in a relegation spot after another
defeat today. Local rivals Vanbrugh Royals came to The Blue Silver Stadium and two goals within a minute just past the half hour mark were more than enough to record a 2-0 away win. Manager Rich Grove questioned the efforts of his squad after another loss. "This is just not good enough. We have enough on paper to be a title challenger but instead we just continue to stink the division up on a regular basis and the only battles we get involved in are of the relegation variety". "New players have been coming in but we will have to do more with what we have got for now as the new arrivals need training". The team bounced back with a 2-0 win at Colwyn Bay in the first leg of the second round of the Super Cup courtesy of a Imre Schlosser double. More transfers completed with Guillermo Stabile arriving from Wascisco Red Sox and Pedro Cea deparitng to Dep EL Celtico as part of the Moriah-Welsh deal. More players will be moving on between now and the end of the season as training opportunities open up. |
02/09/2024 |
Charscot got a break from the league as the
team returned to Rhyl FC for a repeat of week 7's fixture
that the team lost. The team's first tv game of the season, albeit highlights saw the team exact revenge in a game that will be remembered for the own goals more than anything else. Alberto Spencer's conversion to an attacker is looking like a master-stroke as he scored his third goal in 6 matches with a close range tap in after 12 minutes. Imre Schlosser was unfortunate when on 55 minutes the ball rebounded off of the post and hit him and trickled into the net for the host's equaliser. The match was decided on 66 minutes as substitute Alessandro Altobelli decided to strike a pass back to his keeper, who was on the opposite side of the penalty area and watched on anguished as the ball skimmed off the surface and into the net for the winner. Manager Rich Grove was delighted afterwards. "The team proved I got the tactics wrong for the league match and I need to learn from this as we look to try and move up the table". The team saw the draw for the Super Cup place them against Colwyn Bay with the first leg on the road next week. A busy period ahead as the manager looks to refresh and tweak the squad. The first parts saw Nathan Moriah-Welsh arrive from Dep El Celtico. Nathan had only arrived at Dep El a short while ago but had already expressed his displeasure and with their midfield looking settled it was decided sending him to a new club made sense for all concerned. Leaving Charscot next week is trainee midfielder Pedro Cea, who is expected to spend a season or two working on his skills before looking to force his way into the Celtico line up. Also arriving next week is a new trainee with Guillermo Stabile due in from Wascisco. More departures are expected in the weeks and months ahead. |
26/08/2024 |
Charscot made the short trip to Beeston
Athletic looking to build on last week's draw against a
team that had gone 5 games without conceding a goals and
amassed 13 points from those 5 matches. It couldn't have started worse with the hosts taking the lead in the first minute after the visitors gave the ball away on the edge of their area. Charscot played well after this but all seemed lost as the team went 2-0 down with 11 minutes to go. However, in a refreshing change the players refused to give up and Captain Imre Schlosser hit a superb shot from 30 yards with 2 minutes to go. The team quickly won the ball back from the kick off and Alberto Spencer scored from close range after a mass scramble in the area to get the most unlikely of draws. The celebrations at the final whistle could not have been bettered if the team had won the match and although the point sees the team drop two places to 12th it is hoped they will use this unexpected fight back as a confidence booster going forward. Manager Rich Grove was delighted with the comeback. "That was a real fighting battle by us from two down and something that has not been seen a lot in recent seasons. If we can harness that going forward we can still have a good season." "I have to give particular credit to Alberto Spencer, who has had a career as a defender but was thrust into account after injuries to others and has scored 2 goals in 5 matches to create a real opportunity for him to stay in attack going forward even with Gordillo back for next week". |
19/08/2024 |
Charscot welcomed Longfield K.L.F to The
Blue Silver Stadium knowing that even getting a draw as
they have in the last two meetings between the clubs at
the ground would be a good result with K.L.F sitting in
second place. The hosts got off to an atrocious start, conceding within seconds of kick off. Aulis Rytkonen equalised on the half hour mark with a drive form the edge of the box after a scramble in the area. In a game with few chances the draw seemed likely at this point and so it proved. The draw kept Charscot in 10th place, a mere two points above the bottom 3, whilst K.L.F dropped to third place. Manager Rich Grove was not despondent post-match. "That is a good home point against a strong team in decent form so we have to consider this a point gained. We now have a very hard derby match at Beeston Athletic next week, who are flying high on a great run". In the Super Cup the manager rested the team with the group already won and it showed as the team lost 2-1 at home to Resolven Rovers. |
12/08/2024 |
Charscot went to Rhyl FC looking to drag
themselves away from the bottom half but despite a solid
performance the team lost and dropped to 10th place and
are closing in on a relegation spot. The team trailed at half time and when they got a penalty on 57 minutes it was a surprise to see Alberto Spencer step up to take the penalty but the defender slotted home to level the scores. However the team couldn't hold on to the point as Williams scored his second of the game on 77 minutes to win 2-1. Manager Rich Grove was frustrated afterwards. "That should not have been a loss and even though we are only 6 points off of top spot relegation feels much more likely at this point with 4 losses in 7". In the Super Cup the team drew 1-1 with Space Cadets in a match of no real interest with the team already through to the second round. |
05/08/2024 |
On the back of 3 consecutive wins and
hosting a winless Long Eaton Archers The Wolverines should
have been celebrating a fourth consecutive win today. However, despite leading through a Schlosser tap in on the half hour mark the team contrived to concede two quick second half goals and lose 2-1. The loss dropped the team a place to seventh and brought into doubt the new tactics that had been successful in recent weeks. Manager Rich Grove was disappointed afterwards. "Not the result we wanted , of course, and we just have to hope this is just a blip. Next week's match against a struggling Rhyl F.C will show if this was a blip or not". Meanwhile the team won 2-0 against FC Aztec through a Zebeto brace to secure their progress from the group stages of the WPL Super Cup, the first team to do so this season. One piece of transfer business as the experiment with non-all brils/near all brils was deemed a failure with Ferenc Deak leaving to join Ziaste Nequeno after failing to score a single goal in his short stay. |
29/07/2024 |
Visiting Seabourne City has proven too much
for The Wolverines, with only a point from a goalless draw
from 3 previous visits to show for their efforts and not a
single goal scored. With City off to a struggling start Charscot were hopeful of recording their third consecutive win. When the hosts took the lead in the 76th minute it looked like another road loss but substitute Julian Rijkhoff proved the inspiration as his 20 yard drive equalised on 80 minutes before his pass set Aulis Rytkonen up for a fantastic volleyed winner four minutes later. The win moved the team up to sixth place and just 3 points off of top spot after five matches. Manager Rich Grove was delighted afterwards. "After losing the opening two matches of the season the players have responded brilliantly with 3 consecutive wins as the new tactics have really gelled early on. We now have to maintain this form to show ourselves to be a club challenging, which we should be with our resources." The team also won 1-0 at Resolven Rovers in the Super Cup to move to within one win of the second round after half the group games. The goalscorer was Ferenc Deak, in his last action for the club. Ferenc Deak is being sold to Ziaste Nequeno next week. The veteran striker was hoped to bring something different as a non-all bril but he has failed to show anything and will be replaced by the higher skilled players in the line up going forward. |
22/07/2024 |
A much needed first home win of the season
as the team backed up last week's big road win with a
convincing 2-0 win over Dropship F.C. Captain Imre Schlosser blazed a superb shot from 30 yards to open the scoring on 25 minutes and the result was put beyond any doubt when Rivellino curled his own 30 yarder on 66 minutes. The win moves the team up to 8th place. Manager Rich Grove was satisfied post match. "That was exactly what we needed to do here at home to hopefully show we have found some form and can stop looking at the relegation battle. We now have a very hard match at Seabourne next week and a win there would be a big indicator that we truly have turned a corner". In the Super Cup a header from Walter Nausch was enough to record a 1-0 win at Space Cadets to go top of their group after two matches. Finally, two players left via the auction market this week as the manager looked to get the squad down to a more sensible size. Sandro Tonali departed for Selly Allstars of the MOA, joining teammate Gunter Netzer who joined Selly by the same route last month. Bernard Voorhoof joined WPL leaders Wascisco Red Sox and will no doubt want to show the club how wrong they were to let him go this season. |
15/07/2024 |
After two weeks of results not matching
performances a third week of the same occurred but
thankfully this time the win still went to Charscot,
albeit it could have been by so many more goals. The trip to Prestatyn Town was a battle between two side yet to gain a point this season and Aatos Lehtonen's toe poke on 17 minutes was enough for the three points. The win moved the team up to 11th place and saw a relieved manager afterwards. "We needed to get a win after playing so well for nothing before this season so even though it was only a single goal victory it feels enormous for us" Manager Rich Grove stated. "We now have to build on this result as we face Dropship next week looking for our first home win". The team also won in the Super Cup as their latest campaign opened with a 3-2 win at FC Aztec, courtesy of a Zebeto hat-trick. Behind the scenes the team swapped keepers as Eike Immel's short stay at the club ended. His disciplinary issues had become an issue and so the manager looked to bring in another experienced keeper in Franciso Buyo. With Mo Keyper being given the chance Buyo will wait for his chance and the manager will hope Keyper will do enough to keep a settled back five going forward. In a piece of pleasing news the international scout finally earned his wage, finding a potential future star in Warren Zaire-Emery. |
08/07/2024 |
A repeat of last season's atrocious start
to the season seems upon the club again as the team lost
again this week. A repeat of last season's zero points from five matches would be a disaster. The team in fairness is playing very well but getting zero luck as evidenced today in a one way clash against St Joseph's BC, which the hosts managed to lose 2-0 despite creating enough to win three matches. The loss drops the team to 14th place with a big match at equally pointless Prestatyn Town next week. Manager Rich Grove was fuming afterwards. "We simply have to take more of our chances when playing this well and defensively we need to be far tighter at the back. There will be a number of changes for next week as too many are simply not doing their job to acceptable standards". One piece of contract news as new signing Aleksandar Tirnanic signed a one year extension. |
01/07/2024 |
The new season started with a trip to
Champions Spondon Phoenix F.C and despite more than
matching the hosts The Wolverines quickly found themselves
two down and when it went to 3-0 the fans started leaving
the ground to make the long trip home. Consequently many missed Rivellino's solo goal with the last kick of the match. The loss puts Charscot 11th and despite a strong performance the lack of defending will be a major concern. Manager Rich Grove was miserable afterwards. "Not what we hoped for clearly and I am just hoping we don't replicate last season's atrocious start to the season. We have our home debut next week against St Joseph's BC and we simply have to avoid defeat next week". The draw for the first round of the cup sees the team on the road to fellow top flight side Rhyl F.C. A handful of players signed new contracts today seeing Immel, Keyper and Rivellino all signing extensions. |
24/06/2024 |
Today the club hosted Whitebrook Rangers
who were looking to secure a top 3 spot with a win whilst
Charscot needed a point to guarantee the club's safety. The Wolverines put in a good home performance to secure the 2-1 win and 9th place. Zebeto opened the scoring on 24 minutes with a toe poke before Rangers equalised with 15 minutes left. Rivellino scored his 14th of the season to be the top flight's leading scorer for the season, with a simple shot from close range. With the team securing safety Manager Rich Grove was relieved. "The past two weeks saved us, if we had lost the last two games we would have been relegated and to beat the teams that finished second sand fourth is hopefully a good sign for next season". "We now look to the future and a fresh start as we travel to the Champions Spondon Phoenix next week". With the end of another season comes the club's awards. The Player of the Year was a rout as Rivellino won the award with nearly 80% of the vote as the only player to trouble the scorers with any consistency this season. Taking the youth award is 16 year old Didi, who could well win the award again next season if he continues to improve his skills. Five players played a part in every match. Aldo Duscher, Rafael Gordillo, Rivellino, Imre Schlosser and Zebeto all featured throughout the season and all are expected to be featured throughout the coming season, injuries and form loss notwithstanding. The Hall of Fame saw one new entry. With what was a poor season only keeper Eike Immel did enough to be awarded a place in the club's Hall of Fame. |
17/06/2024 |
A trip to title challengers A.F.C Binfield
looked likely to leave the club on the verge of relegation
today. As it was The Wolverines put in an exceptional performance to win 1-0, courtesy of a Rivellino free kick on 28 minutes. The win completely an unlikely double for the season and moved the team up to 11th place, 3 points above 14th placed Wascisco going into the final round of games next week. Avoiding defeat guarantees the club escaping relegation, anything less opens the door for Wascisco and Rivendell to combine to send the club down. Manager Rich Grove was beaming afterwards. "What a great performance and result. We have tried something a little different on the road the past couple of games and we have gained two wins for our efforts that have basically given us the chance of survival.". "We return home for a very hard match against Whitebrook Rangers, and we have to be at our best to get something from the match to secure our safety". Behind the scenes the moves continued to re-shape the squad. In a surprise move Levi Colwill left for Kilburn United as part of a four team trade. Coming Charscot's way is Bernard Voorhoof to balance out the Charscot part, and Voorhoof is expected to be sent straight to the auction market next week. Arriving next week after the WPL is Aleksandar Tirnanic from Riot City to complete a massive balancing out act between sides. |
10/06/2024 |
A weakened Wascisco Red Sox turned up at
The Blue Silver Stadium lacking in confidence but not
lacking in fight as the two sides met with relegation on
the cards for both. Charscot put in a poor performance, missing many chances whilst doing little to stop the Sox from scoring from their own chances. Despite the hosts leading on 18 minutes with Rivellino's close range shot by half time the visitors were 2-1 up and would not lose that lead in a dull second half. The loss leaves Charscot outside the bottom three by one solitary goal and with two hard matches left to play the hopes of survival are not high. Manager Rich Grove was furious afterwards. "That was pathetic, just not good enough. We now have two matches to save ourselves and at this point it is hard to see us surviving". The manager confirmed the transfer of Porirsson to Dep El, part of the deal that will see a new arrival from Riot City in the Opal in 2 week's time. Finally, it seems Levi Colwill's time at the club is over as he is expected to be placed on the auction market next week. |
03/06/2024 |
Charscot travelled to Balham Town in
desperate need of a win with three games to go and points
likely hard to come by in the final two matches. It meant
a win this week and then against Wascisco is crucial to
the team's hopes of survival. The Wolverines got off to a perfect start with Zebeto finishing off a mazy run to put the visitors ahead on 11 minutes. However, slack defending allowed Balham to equalise within 60 seconds. On 57 minutes Aatos Lehtonen hit a brilliant free kick from the edge of the 'D' to secure a 2-1 win. The win moved the team above Balham and Wascisco and a win over Wascisco would put The Wolverines 6 points clear of the Sox, anything less and it will look grim and even a win next week still leaves some work with so many sides near the bottom. Manager Rich Grove was relieved afterwards. "Such a relief to win this match. We have to remain focused for the upcoming matches as we are a long way from safe but at least we have hope". With Gunter Netzer completing his 4 weeks on the auction market today the manager confirmed that Levi Colwill will be exiting the club via the market next week. It is felt Levi needs a fresh start as he prepares to turn 20 and with a number of younger players vying for a spot in the line up Levi is looking forward to restarting his career anew. |

Charscot hosted The Academy knowing
anything less than a win was likely to see the team in the
bottom 3 with fellow relegation candidates Wascisco and
Balham facing off today. The team did well, getting a point in a goalless draw but as expected a Balham win leaves Charscot now in the bottom 3 directly before playing both clubs in the next 2 weeks. Manager Rich Grove was not confident afterwards. "We simply have to win our next 2 matches, anything less and relegation seems likely and with our away form so poor winning next week seems unlikely". As well as the already noted arrival of Jozsef Hada last week his compatriot Ferenc Deak is joining the club from Prestatyn Town. The Hungarian is not an all bril but it is hoped he can replicate his frequent scoring from his earlier years in the game. |

Charscot visited local rivals Vanbrugh
Royals needing a win to leapfrog the hosts. That hope became a pipe dream as two goals in the first six minutes assured The Wolverines of another loss. Captain Imre Schlosser headed home on 72 minutes to halve the deficit but the team once again came up short and lost a third consecutive away match 2-1. This latest loss leaves Charscot out of the bottom three purely on goal difference. Manager Rich Grove was unimpressed, as usual, post-match. "The match was made impossible for us by a painfully slow start to the match. Two down within six minutes is usually going to end in defeat and so it was on this occasion. This team is truly an embarrassment and I am sick of them and would gladly offload them all to get something resembling a reasonable performance". More moves are clearly ahead, with the first being the swapping of keepers with Wascisco as former youth Jozsef Hada returns to the club after almost a season with the Sox, whilst David Jakeman leaves the club after his horrific debut last week. |
13/05/2024 |
Charscot welcomed bottom side Shaolin F.C
for a must win game as time is running out to get away
from the bottom 3. The visitors turned up with nothing to lose with relegation already likely and The Wolverines made a mess of the match, throwing away a dominating performance with dumb mistakes at the back that cost the team dearly and may well result in the club's relegation next month. A 4th minute goal was followed by a second on 26 minutes as the home defence looked all over the place as Jakeman on his debut failed to command his defence at all. The hosts tried to make a go of things in the second half as Rivellino scored two goals in 4 minutes, a header and a tap in, to level the scores and it looked like Charscot may get out of the mess they had made for themselves. However, Jakeman had one more error in him as his skewed punch on 85 minutes saw the ball hit Lorde on the back of the head and fly into his own net. The loss dropped Charscot to 13th place and in desperate need of getting some road results with games running out. Manager Rich Grove was fuming post-match. "That was just unacceptable. Jakeman will not play for us again, he is finished at the club and will be gone by next week. If I had my way a lot more of them would be following him out of the door too but we are relatively stuck due to a lack of form in our covering players". |

Charscot travelled to Longfield K.L.F
desperate to improve an abysmal road record that has
pushed the team towards the relegation zone this season. The hosts had won 6 of the 10 meetings between the clubs at Brunswick Park, losing the other four. For most of the second half it looked like a first draw between the sides at the ground was going to happen. The hosts had led from the 35th minute before Zebeto hit a spectacular shot from 35 yards in the 53rd minute to level the scores. As the match entered the 89th minute the hosts won the game with an Aubameyang shot from 15 yards. The loss drops Charscot to 11th, 3 points ahead of 14th whilst the hosts kept their top 3 hopes alive and moved back into the top 5. Manager Rich Grove was frustrated post-match. "We really should have held out for the point as every point is potentially so important with us so close to a relegation spot. We now have to beat the bottom side Shaolin on our own patch next week. Nothing less will be acceptable." Leaving the club this week is Gunter Netzer, whose goalscoring had dropped off after a promising start to his career. He is hoping a fresh start will lead to a successful career as the player is only just about to turn 25. The club today confirmed that The Blue Silver Stadium is to be completely renovated and rebuilt with immediate effect. The only stand remaining open for now is the West Stand with the remaining 3 stands being rebuilt with extra executive boxes and an increased capacity. The first stage of building work will be completed in just under two seasons and at that point the West Stand will be demolished and rebuilt. Upon completion of all work the capacity will be increased from the current 72,000 to a capacity of 150,000 with 300 executive boxes in place of the current 200. The builders have moved in and the ground now has 3 sides in the building process with a capacity of 20,000 and 275 executive boxes with immediate effect. |

Charscot welcomed Rhyl FC looking for the
team's first double of the season after a 1-0 win in the
reverse fixture this season. History repeated itself as Charscot won 1-0 courtesy of a Rivellino tap in on 66 minutes. The win leapfrogged the club up to 9th and to four points clear of the bottom three. Manager Rich Grove was delighted post-match. "That was an enormous win for us and a much needed second consecutive clean sheet at home. We made changes to both the line up and player's positions this week as we look to find a winning formula and this was a good start". "We now go to Longfield K.L.F needing to build on this win and at leats take a point if at all possible at a ground where we have 4 wins from 10 visits but have never drawn at". The squad for next season is starting to take shape with a surprise departure of Gunter Netzer in the coming weeks and Porirsson's future still to be resolved via his performances in the remainder of the season. Further changes seem likely. In other news the draw for next season's WPL Super Cup was made earlier this week. Charscot are team 4 in Group F and will face local rivals Space Cadets, Resolven Rovers and FC Aztec. |
22/04/2024 |
Charscot visited Long Eaton Archers knowing
defeat was not an option. However, the team did their best
to make sure this happened anyway as a lacklustre
performance meant the team lost 2-1. A double from Ruse gave the hosts the win with Gordillo's superb free kick on 53 minutes the only response from The Wolverines. The loss dropped the team down to 12th place and puts the pressure on for the upcoming matches. Manager Rich Grove was very unimpressed. "We have historically done well at The Archers but that performance was just poor and we got what we deserved, nothing. Now we have to get something from our next two matches with Prestatyn and Longfield as any further defeats right now will leave us even deeper in trouble". After falling short on trying to rebuild the defence to be an old school purely defenders, no shooting, squad, the manager changed tack and came to a deal sending two players that have not impressed him to Real Madrid. Leaving the club is Cesar Cueto and Alvaro Gines two young tsars who have not quite made the grade. Arriving in return is Charscot old boy Walter Nausch, who left two seasons ago to embark on his professional career, and midfielder Julio Baptista who has shown flashes of being a goalscorer but has never managed to maintain the scoring over a season. |
15/04/2024 |
Charscot welcomed Seabourne City looking
for a first ever win against Seabourne in our league
history. City are having an excellent season and surprisingly went with a cautious line-up, which the hosts were hopeful of exploiting. Charscot managed to make the most of it winning 1-0 courtesy of a Rivellino toe poke on 65 minutes and backed up by a clean sheet from Immel on his return from injury. The win moved the team up to tenth place but a number of shock results meant the gap to the bottom 3 remained at 3 points. Manager Rich Grove was delighted afterwards. "We really needed that win and beating a City side playing as well as they have this season is very satisfying. We have to now go to Long Eaton Archers and try to win again and hope for better results across the division." In other news the manager confirmed he has been looking at a big change at the club. "With our defensive issues over recent seasons I have been looking into changing from an all bril defence to a specialist defenders lineup where the defence doesn't have great shooting. Unfortunately despite offering up 2 young all brils worth £ 35mill+ on the market the response has not been great". "We had one brief interest from a manager who had a handful of players that fit the bill but seemingly only wanted to both have his cake and eat it by trying to offer lesser players, whilst another manager was determined to make offers for both but ultimately went quiet". "At this point I may well see if deals are possible across our own clubs or just stay as is as it has become clear that getting swap deals with third parties has become much harder with managers getting too greedy or showing no interest in even considering swap deals. A shame but if that is the game now then they can have no complaints when I show no interest in swapping with them in the future" he stated grimly. |
08/04/2024 |
Charscot made the short trip to Rivendell
for a relegation battle which neither team could afford to
lose. This was reflected in an even match that finished 1-1 and didn't really do anything to relax either club's fans. Charscot took the lead on 56 minutes as Aldo Duscher toe poked home but the hosts plugged on and were rewarded with 5 minutes left as Ojamaa tapped home. The draw drops Charscot to 12th, one place above Rivendell with Charscot just 3 points off of a relegation spot. Manager Rich Grove was unimpressed afterwards. "I didn't feel we really did enough and to let in a late goal like that is very frustrating. We now face a hard match at home to Seabourne City next week knowing a loss could see us in the bottom 3". The manager moved to change things up as Frantisek Planicka finished his second spell at the club as he was exchanged for David Jakeman from Mos Eisley. Both keepers needed a fresh start and it is understood the manager has more plans for the keepers when form allows. |
01/04/2024 |
Charscot's latest abysmal run of form
continues as the team lost 2-0 at home to a struggling
Prestatyn Town. The team showed little quality in the attacking third and allowed two goal midway through the second half that leaves the team just 3 points above the relegation places in 11th. Manager Rich Grove was angry afterwards. "Simply not good enough. We have to play much better and get back to winning ways before the season ends in our relegation". Behind the scenes moves started to be made to the squad as Jaime Lazcano arrived from Real Madrid in a swap for Klaus Fischer and midfielder Claus Cueto was told he will be on the auction market next week. |
25/03/2024 |
Charscot travelled to St Joseph's BC
lacking confidence on the back of two consecutive defeats
and there was no sign of this run ending as the team went
down weakly 3-1. The team's goal came from Rivellino with six minutes left and the game over at 3-0. The loss pushes Charscot down to tenth place and just six points above the relegation places. Next week's match against Prestatyn Town, in 14th place, is now crucial to the club's hopes for the season. Manager Rich Grove was disappointed afterwards. "Losing at BC is no shock but the performance was frankly poor, with us showing little going forward and defensively it looks like Frantisek Planicka may have played his last game in goal for the club". With two players returning from injury, another due back in a fortnight from his loan at Blackmore Knights and a swap deal with Real Madrid due to be completed next Monday the manager should have fresh options over the coming weeks to hopefully keep the club out of the relegation battle. |
18/03/2024 |
Charscot welcomed Spondon Phoenix to The
Blue Silver Stadium knowing another defeat would see the
club dropping down the table and potentially going on a
long losing run similar to the one that started the
season. On the day The Wolverines shooting badly let the team down as they lost 1-0. The loss dropped the team to 8th position and if the next 4 games are losses for a second time this season the team will be in a relegation fight. Manager Rich Grove was disappointed post-match. "We were so wasteful in the attacking third. We have to be more clinical to avoid a nervous end to the season. The loss of our keeper for 3 weeks will not help matters but will help me determine who has a future at the club next season". |
11/03/2024 |
Charscot visited third placed Whitebrook
Rangers having never lost their in 7 previous visits.
However, Rangers are a far better side than the club had
ever faced before and that showed as Charscot's 9 match
unbeaten run ended in a five goal thriller. Although the scoreline, 3-2, looked close, in reality Charscot never looked like winning after trailing early in the first half. Rafael Gordillo scored a brace with two close range efforts, the first to equalise, the latter to make the scoreline close. The loss keeps the team in sixth place but well adrift of the top five. Manager Rich Grove was sad afterwards. "We had hoped to keep the unbeaten run going for some time yet but we just couldn't do enough to avoid defeat and we now host another high flying side in Spondon Phoenix next week desperate to get a win". |
04/03/2024 |
Charscot faced a big challenge today as
second placed A.F.C Binfield visited The Blue Silver
Stadium. The hosts had an 8 game unbeaten run to give them confidence and that was clearly in evidence as the team raced into a two goal lead that never looked threatened. Roger Piantoni scored his first of the season on 16 minutes, driving home from close range. The scoreline doubled just after the half hour mark as a Stock handball was punished by Rivellino, who scored his first penalty for the club, and his 47th goal overall. After this the hosts controlled the game and recorded an excellent 2-0 win to move up to a season high sixth place. Manager Rich Grove was ecstatic after the match. "Today was the start of a very hard run of fixtures and it fills us with confidence as we go into the coming games on the back of a now nine game unbeaten run. We have nothing to fear and hopefully can have a strong second half of the season". The only bad news of the week was an injury to Jack Williams, which reduces the cover to the line up and will potentially delay a deal involving Klaus Fischer. |
26/02/2024 |
The unbeaten run extended to 8 games after
the team played out a 1-1 draw at local rivals Wascisco
Red Sox. The team took an early lead on 10 minutes as Aldo Duscher scored from close range for his ninth club goal, a third of which have come against the Sox. An unfortunate deflection off of Imre Schlosser's head resulted in an own goal equaliser on 26 minutes and despite both teams having numerous chances the match failed to have another goal. The draw leaves the teams unchanged with Charscot 7th, a place above Wascisco. Manager Rich Grove was happy enough post-match. "It is always tricky playing derby matches so a point in not a disaster by any means. However, we play second and third in our next two matches and maintaining our unbeaten run through these tricky fixtures will be a big challenge. Behind the scenes the player to be named later in the deal sending Bernard Voorhoof to Dep EL Celtico was confirmed with Andelain sending a youth midfielder across next week and Dep El balancing out the deal with Andelain at the end of the season. |
19/02/2024 |
Charscot's unbeaten run extended to 7 games
today with a 1-1 draw at home to Balham Town. Although Town are in a relegation place the team won't be too disappointed at maintaining the unbeaten run and keeping half the division below them, still sitting in 7th place. The team had to rely on a Steve Calladine own goal just after the half hour mark to equalise a Linighan goal 7 minutes earlier. The hosts could have won the match but fell short in front of goal. Manager Rich Grove was content afterwards. "Obviously we always want to win but avoiding defeat on the back of a run with so many wins is far from a disaster. We can hopefully return to winning ways at Wascisco next week as we owe them one for recent defeats". |
12/02/2024 |
Charscot made the trip to Champions The
Academy on the back of 5 wins and a draw in their last 6
games. The team hasn't done well of late at Estadio Olympia but turned in an excellent performance to win a thriller. It started poorly as ex-Charscot player Mahmoud El-Khatib scored a tap in on 17 minutes. Defender Dean Lorde headed his first career goal ten minutes later to level the scores. Imre Schlosser scored after a mazy run on 39 minutes to give The Wolverines the lead before Ehrhoff tapped home right on the half time whistle. 2-2 and a thrilling first half was over. The second half saw a lot of chances but no goals going late into the match before Imre Schlosser toe poked home with 4 minutes left for a big road win 3-2. The win moves the team up to 7th place. Manager Rich Grove was delighted. "That is as good a result as is possible, a win at the reigning Champions. Really pleased with my players and the resolve they have shown to go on this 7 game unbeaten run after losing the first 5, particularly with 6 of those 7 games being wins". "We have a lot of work still to do this season but hopefully we can keep the momentum going and make the relegation fears a thing of the past". |
05/02/2024 |
Charscot welcomed the return to the league
after a break last week as the team welcomed local rivals
Vanbrugh Royals to The Blue Silver Stadium. The team's record against the Royals is exceptional, with only 2 league defeats in 21 previous meetings but losing the last meeting after 3 consecutive draws meant The Wolverines needed to produce something. The match was an open entertaining one and looked destined to finish goalless when substitute Chakvetadze gave away a silly free kick for kicking the ball away. From the free kick the team went down the right hand side before a beautiful cross was headed home by Rivellino to secure the 1-0 win. This was his third consecutive scoring league match (4 goals) and has turned the season around it seems. The 1-0 win moved the team up to 9th place and although next week a loss at The Academy seems likely the team will hopefully be in position to get away from any relegation battle. "Manager Rich Grove couldn't hide his delight afterwards. "That was a brilliant end to a very entertaining match. I am really pleased for our players who have put in a lot of work to recover from losing the first five matches this season. There is still a lot of work to do but we are hopefully heading in the right direction". Further good news came from the international scout, who found a gem of a youth player this week who will be joining the club next Monday. He looks to have a great future ahead of him. |
29/01/2024 |
Charscot took a break form league action as
they travelled to Ynysfawr Athletic, who are having a
great season in Division 3 so far and are looking good for
promotion. The match looked like it was going the way of Charscot when Sandro Tonali scored off of the bench with a sweet lob with just 7 minutes left. However the hosts equalised four minutes later taking the game to extra time where Roger Piantoni diverted a cross past his own keeper to give the hosts a place in the second round. Manager Rich Grove was disappointed but not downhearted after the match. "Today was always a game we could easily lose and losing in extra time is just one of those things and as long as it doesn't affect us in the league going forward then it may not be the worst thing having our focus exclusively on the league". More movements at the club as youth player Jules Farrier left the club for Caernarfon Town with experienced midfielder Hallsteinn Porirsson arriving in exchange. It is hoped Hallsteinn will make the most of a fresh challenge after a career that has underwhelmed so far. |
22/01/2024 |
Charscot travelled to Shaolin F.C knowing a
win would take the team out of the bottom 3 for the first
time this season on the back of what would be a 4 game
unbeaten run. The result looked in serious doubt when the hosts took the lead after just 35 seconds after a lovely Oliviera chip from 25 yards. Just before the half hour mark Rivellino hit an even sweeter lob to level the scores. In the 41th minute Charscot took the lead as Spencer headed home nicely to give The Wolverines a 2-1 lead. In an open match the second half saw both teams go close before two goals in two minutes finished the game as a contest. Aatos Lehtonen scored his second goal in only five appearances, chipping home from 30 yards on 84 minutes and a minute later Rivellino headed home to complete the 4-1 scoreline. The result moved the team up to 12th place as the league takes a break for the first round of the cup next week. Manager Rich Grove was ecstatic afterwards. "That was a superb result and the recent run gives us a big hope of pulling away from the relegation battle in the coming months. We get to face a hard match at Ynysfawr next week knowing we will stay out of the bottom 3". The team moved towards a more cut down squad as two players left the club. Karl Koller joined Ziaste Nequeno whilst Bernard Voorhoof's transfer to Dep El Celtico came with a proviso. Dep El will have to in time offer a acceptable swap in exchange or, if none can be found, they will return Voorhoof to Charscot so the club can find a swap deal or list on the auction market. |
15/01/2024 |
Charscot welcomed high-flying Longfield
K.L.F on the back of winning our last two matches knowing
a win would take the team out of the bottom 3. It took KLF a mere 48 seconds to open the scoring with a close range tap in from Hayhurst and for long periods Charscot wasted clear opportunities, frequently shooting wide from good positions. The equaliser came from a Rivellino tap in just past the hour mark but the hosts couldn't find a winner and had to settle for a point. The draw keeps the club in 14th place on a week when the bottom two both won. Manager Rich Grove had mixed feelings after the match. "A point against a team playing as well as KLF can never be considered a bad reuslt but we wasted so many clear opportunities and that is slightly frustrating when we still sit in the bottom 3". "We now go to Shaolin next week knowing a win will take us out of the bottom 3". The team finished it's Super Cup campaign with a goalless draw at home to The Academy. Rumours continue to circle the club that more personnel changes are expected and it may be that the manager looks to AM some players as he grows disheartened by the apparent death of decent swap offers in the game these days with so many managers looking to fund via the market or scouting and few interested in swap deals. |
08/01/2024 |
Charscot made the trip to fellow strugglers
Rhyl F.C knowing a second win of the season was imperative
if the team wants to make any real move towards safety. The Wolverines put in a dominant performance and for long periods it looked like their efforts were not going to be rewarded before a late goal earned the team an enormous three points. Aatos Lehtonen tapped home from close range with 8 minutes left to secure a 1-0 road win. The win moved the team up to 14th but still with a lot of work to do. Manager Rich Grove was delighted afterwards. "That was a must win game and we were very focused and fully deserving of the win. If we can keep playing like that we can get ourselves out of the relegation battle but any drop of standards will see us stuck in the bottom three all season". In the Super Cup the team drew 0-0 at home to Beeston Athletic, a result that means the team will not progress out of the group stages. |
01/01/2024 |
Charscot started the New Year with the
first points of the season as the team finally won,
beating visiting Long Eaton Archers 2-1 to move off of
bottom spot. The result was far less impressive than it appears as the visitors played with only 10 men for 62 minutes due to trying to field an ineligible player. In that time the hosts managed to score no goal at all, only recording one shot on target in that period. After that though the team got the boost it needed as Zebeto scored the quickest goal as a sub ever , coming on and scoring in the 64th minute and lobbing the keeper. A busy minute as the visitors went straight down the other end and equalised much to the manager's frustration. Thankfully Rivellino drove home from six yards out to secure the win six minutes later. The team is still in deep trouble going into the trip to bottom side Rhyl FC next week. In the Super Cup the team kept their qualification hopes alive with a 1-0 win at Goal United, courtesy of a Rivellino penalty. Manager Rich Grove was relieved post-match. "We really needed that. We now have to build on this and make sure we get something from our trip to Rhyl next week or else we will just be back bottom of the division. AN enormous match even at this early stage". |
